Hi,
Can anyone tell me what partition type I should use on a Zip100 drive so that
it can be
a) booted from on the Atari
b) read by a PC (XP Pro)
Also, should a Falcon be able to read a 100mb partition or do I need to split it?
One more, how do I get the Atari to boot from the Zip100 drive?
Regards
Dave

a) and b) exclude each other. Either the Atari can boot from a ZIP or the PC can read/write it.
The Falcon supports partition sizes up to 1 GByte. The HDDRIVER FAQ lists the maximum partition sizes for each version of TOS.
The Atari can boot from a ZIP like it can boot from any other drive, i.e. there is nothing special to take care of.

Re: Format Zip100 for Atari & PC
Hi,
Ok so if I want to exchange data with a PC it needs to be a disk that's not bootable.
I've tried formatting a disk using TOS and Windows compatibility but my USB Zip100 on the
PC (XP Pro) says the disk needs formatting.

Re: Format Zip100 for Atari & PC
Hi,
this is strange because many users exchange data between TOS and Windows this way. I suggest you ask for help in one of the internet Atari forums because you will find users there who regularly exchange data using a ZIP or other kind of drive (CF, SD etc.)
I'm just wondering: Is your ZIP a SCSI or an IDE/ATAPI drive? If it is IDE or ATAPI you have to select the byte-swapping option when partitioning. IDE and ATAPI drives connected to the PC use a different byte order than the Atari. With SCSI drives there is not need for this option, it must actually remain disabled.
Best regards
Uwe
