If you own an Atari with realtime clock you may be missing daylight saving time support. In case you are thinking about adding a modern drive solution to your Atari anyway you can get daylight saving time support for free when using PiSCSI for the Raspberry Pi as your external device. With PiSCSI and the free PiSCSI client tools for the Atari you can easily add a realtime clock device to your Atari, in addition to the hard disk drives, CD-ROM drives etc. you are adding anyway.
This solution for a realtime clock with daylight saving time support also works for Ataris that do not have any built-in clock at all, of course. Or for Ataris where the clock's battery is empty.
MegaSTE owners can connect PiSCSI directly the the MegaSTE's internal host adapter, i.e. except for a Raspberry Pi and PiSCSI no other hardware is needed. Otherwise, like with any other SCSI peripheral, a SCSI host dapter for the ACSI bus is required.
