Greetings,
I recently purchased HDDriver 10.14 and attempted to upgrade the driver from HDDriver 9.x. In the process it now sees the Falcon's SCSI bus and seems to think my IDE partitions are on it. At least, I think that's what's going on. I don't know. None of my hard drive partitions work anymore since attempting to install V10.14.
I don't really care about the partitions and files on them, but I'm not sure what I should do at this point. I don't know if I had previously disabled the SCSI bus, but I don't remember it showing up before, or if it did it was bus 2 and I never noticed it.
Anyway, what information do you need from me? Falcon 030 16MHz, 14MB, IDE CF Card 4GB, HDDriver 1014. Install Devices shows my drives, but none of them will open when double-clicked. HDDriver doesn't give me the option of Install or Remove HDDriver, only Locate.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

Re: Falcon 030 CF Card 4GB no longer working
Hi,
Confusing an IDE port with the SCSI bus would technically not be possible. I'm also not aware of any setup that would it have appear that way. When installing a newer version of HDDRIVER the settings from the existing installation are simply retained, but looks as if in your case this did not work.
I recommend that you simply discard the current installation (i.e. HDDRIVER.SYS). First boot from the HDDRIVER floppy disk instead of from your hard disk drive. Then start HDDRUTIL, remove HDDRIVER from your boot drive with "Remove HDDRIVER". Next install HDDRIVER again. This will result in a fresh, unconfigured HDDRIVER.SYS on your boot drive. You can then configure HDDRIVER as you need it with HDDRUTIL. Ensure that there is no HDDRIVER.PRG in the AUTO folder of your boot drive.
Also see the manual for details.

Thank you for replying!
I have made a disk with HDDRIVER.PRG in the Auto folder, and while I can run HDDRUTIL, The option to Remove HDDRIVER is greyed out, and won't let me select it. I have included some pics so you can see what I'm talking about.

Again, I don't really care about the files on the partitions, but I was stopped from formatting the CF card by HDDRIVER's warning that it can break some IDE devices. Is that something that I need to worry about with a CF card? Should I pull the CF card out, attach it to my PC and re-format it? It was working so nicely up till now.

In order to install HDDRIVER you have to select *the drive/partition* to install HDDRIVER (HDDRIVER.SYS) on, not the device. Usually you select drive C:, or just double click it for the installation. From what I can see on the screenshots you selected a device. Hard disk driver files can be installed on any primary GEM or BGM partition. In HDDRUTIL all partitions a hard disk driver can be installed on are marked by a leading dot in the drive window.
Please also refer to the manual, which explains how to install HDDRIVER.
By the way, I noticed that you enabled "Preserve existing partitions". What is the reason for that? I could not see any other partitions that you may not want to be managed by HDDRIVER on your screenshots.
One more thing: I cannot see any indication that HDDRUTIL confuses IDE and SCSI. All contents of your screenshots appear completely normal to me.

That was on the recommendation of someone in the Atari Age forums. I wasn't sure if that was a wise thing to do, which was partially why I posted that picture. I've turned that back off.
In fact, I've managed to make it work again. I went to re-partition the drive and saw that for some reason my current setup was ~31MB over what HDDRIVER was reporting the capacity of the drive to be. Perhaps my CF card is going bad, I should probably replace it.
Anyway, after Dividing the overrun sectors across the 4 partitions, and letting it re-partition the card with smaller individual partitions, I seem to be back in business. (I also had the manual packed away in a box, so I had to get that out too. The manual was a big help.)
Thank you very much for your help!

Re: Falcon 030 CF Card 4GB no longer working
We are seeing the same with our STFM IDE interface and external ACSI drive. One partition with each drive, C & D. When booted up, C & D both display the contents of the IDE drive! If I try to write to a drive, it works for a few files then the drive gets trashed.phlod wrote: 23 Feb 2019, 16:50 In the process it now sees the Falcon's SCSI bus and seems to think my IDE partitions are on it. We went back to version 8.46 and no problems with that. Both drive contents display correctly as expected.
8.47 we also tried, but the install driver option just froze. We also tried HD9.10 and HD10.14.
HD8.02 did not see IDE at all.
So for me, HD8.46 is the only version which doesn't have that problem.
Incidentally, Both drives work fine individually (when one is disconnected). I know someone else with the same issue as well.
