Falcon won't format zip drive

I am trying to format a zip100 with hdd 8.4 , It shows up under tool zip/jazz drives but can not change any of the setting.
The zip drive does not show up at all under the format menu. Any suggestions on what to do. Thanks

I can only guess here: There might be something wrong with the ZIP cartridge. You can only change the settings or format the cartridge if it is accepted by the drive, which might not be the case.
Can you access the cartridge at all, i.e. can you read and write to it? (In case you can, why do you want to format it?)

I can not access the zip disk the light comes on and it tries to read it but says disk may be damaged, I have tried 4 other disks and it says the same thing with all of them. I formatted them on a PC so they are good. But now I cannot access my hard drive so maybe there is something wrong with the falcon.
